The Neighborhood-Health Policy Research project involves analyzing large Danish register data to examine the effects of neighborhood deprivation on dementia and its vascular risk factors among a cohort of immigrants to Denmark. The project emphasizes policy evaluation, social determinants, and research methods.
UCSF is seeking an individual to conduct policy research to examine the effects of neighborhood socioeconomic deprivation on health. The fellow will also work with the principal investigator on other related projects, leveraging natural experiments to study the effects of social policies on health.
Postdoctoral candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent) in epidemiology, health policy, economics, political science, or a related field. The project will require travel to Aarhus University in Denmark for 1-3 weeks per year in order to receive training to use the data.
Strong analytical and writing skills are required. This position is for two years and suitable for an individual with an epidemiology, health policy, economics, or political science background who is looking to gain research experience and further career development. Research experience in social determinants of health, health disparities, or immigrant health is desirable. Methodological expertise in longitudinal data analysis using SAS, R, or Stata is also desirable. Fellows will be expected to publish first-authored manuscripts on projects aligned with the primary research topic and prepare grant applications to establish research independence.
