Dr. Eric Horvitz presenting at UCSF DEB Day
Eric Horvitz, MD, PhD Chief Scientific Officer at Microsoft, visited the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics for a special two-day engagement centered on the future of artificial intelligence in medicine, research, and society.

During his visit, Dr. Horvitz delivered a thought-provoking talk that prompted rich discussion among faculty, trainees, and collaborators about the promise and complexity of AI in clinical decision-making, scientific discovery, and responsible innovation. His remarks helped frame both the opportunities and the important questions facing academic medicine as AI continues to evolve.

Beyond the formal presentation, the visit created valuable space for deeper conversation and exchange across the DEB community. We are grateful to Dr Horvitz for sharing his time, perspective, and leadership with the department.
