Sleep disturbances and disorders are common but frequently under-diagnosed in older adults. Untreated sleep and circadian disorders diminish quality of life and may increase risk for onset of age-related physical and mental health impairments. There are many unanswered questions about the effects of treating sleep and circadian disorders in the older population. Which treatment is best, and for which outcome? A number of opportunities and challenges will be discussed.
