Building a Clinical Research Career (EPI 227)

Spring 2026 (1 unit)

Students learn to manage relationships with mentors and collaborators, time management, tips for manuscript submissions and the peer review process, tips for job applications, identifying funding opportunities and budgeting for grants, and leadership skills. 

Objectives

Upon Completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Learn how to manage relationships with mentors
  • Receive tips and guidance on how to manage time
  • Understand the peer review process
  • Identify funding opportunities and budget for research projects
  • Generate products related to professional advancement, including a CV or resume and an individual development plan.

Grading

This course is offered on a pass/fail basis only. 

Only UCSF students (defined as individuals enrolled in UCSF degree or certificate programs) will receive academic credit for courses.  Official transcripts are available only to UCSF students.  A Certificate of Course Completion will be available upon request to individuals who are not UCSF students and who satisfactorily pass all course requirements.
