Structural and social factors drive disparities in hepatitis C virus (HCV) prevention and treatment among people who use drugs. This seminar will highlight research that integrates epidemiologic methods—longitudinal studies, data triangulation and mathematical modeling—to identify and address gaps in HCV care and progress toward elimination. Examining interpersonal relationships as a mechanism for prevention and treatment engagement provides a novel approach to overcoming both structural and individual barriers, offering new strategies to improve health outcomes and inform policy.
