DEB Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (DEIA) Committee

As new attention and funding streams become available for work focused on health equity, members of the DEIA Committee are hosting a conversation about how we as population health researchers can more intentionally address disparities and inequities in our work. Presenters will ground this conversation in a recent article contrasting health equity “tourism” with informed efforts to build health equity considerations into research portfolios. We will moderate an open discussion on barriers that researchers face in incorporating health equity research practices and on tangible support and resources that can help them overcome these barriers. The DEIA Committee hopes to stimulate more active engagement with health equity research and to expand the department’s contributions to research that helps maximize health among historically marginalized communities and populations.
