Applying implementation science theories to modify our evidence-based programs and practices

The goal of this short course is to support those who would like to adapt their interventions, programs, and policies to new settings or populations. Within this short course, you will dive deeper into understanding different approaches to intervention adaptation and how to apply implementation science theories to support intervention adaptation in a rigorous way. By the end of this short course, you will have a toolkit of intervention adaptation methods, with examples of how they have been used in practice, and you will understand the pros and cons of various approaches to assist you with adapting and improving public health programs.

Audience

The course is geared for those working in healthcare or public health settings with existing familiarity of clinical or health services research methods. However, this audience includes practitioners and healthcare leadership in addition to more traditional investigators/researchers. There will be dedicated instruction by core faculty in the Implementation Science Training Program and the PRISE Center.

Format

The course will use a combination of interactive didactic methods, real-time assignments (with dedicated time to work through specific content areas/topics), small groups, and one-on-one faculty/learner discussions to get personalized feedback on the overall concepts as well as the application to one’s work. All sessions take place via Zoom and the schedule of events is in Pacific Standard Time/UTC -8.
