We want to extend a warm welcome to Catherine (Cathy) Lee, PhD, who is joining our department’s Division of Biostatistics as an associate professor starting August 1.
Cathy joins UCSF after nearly seven years as a research scientist biostatistician at Kaiser Permanente’s Division of Research, where she supported over 30 investigators on over 40 funded studies that span the areas of epidemiology, clinical predictive modeling, clinical trials, delivery science, policy evaluation and disparities research.
Her research focuses on the analysis of censored outcomes, subject to data complications such as left-truncation, competing outcomes, long-term survivors (cure fraction), unknown time origins and sparsely collected time-dependent covariates. She is also interested in the development and evaluation of risk prediction tools that handle issues such as censoring, multiple outcomes, stratified random sampling and time-updated predictions.
Cathy is looking forward to collaborating with clinicians and researchers at UCSF and opportunities for teaching and mentoring.
In her spare time, she enjoys learning capoeira and spending time with her husband, two sons and two guinea pigs.
