On October 27, our department’s Digital Health Initiative and the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute hosted a day-long Eureka Build-a-Thon for UCSF researchers to discover how quick and easy it is to build and host a research study on the Eureka platform, which was developed by Mark Pletcher, MD, MPH, Alexis Beatty, MD, MAS, and other UCSF researchers. About 20 people participated in the Build-a-Thon, where study teams paired with Eureka principal investigators, project managers, developers and a UX designer to design and build their proposed studies.
A closing session invited the UCSF community to watch presentations by the two finalists and vote for a winner. The winning project, Living with Meningioma, received a year of free support on Eureka, which usually bills at cost through a recharge mechanism. Led by William C. Chen, MD, from the Department of Radiation Oncology, the Living with Meningioma study will explore the quality of life, health and health care experiences among meningioma survivors.
Congratulations go to Chen and to runner-up winners B. Shoshana Zha, MD, PhD, and Natalie Stumpf, MD, whose BronchConnect study will explore the impact of patient support groups on quality of life in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.
