Department welcomes three new faculty

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is welcoming three new faculty members for the 2019-20 academic year. They are:

Pam Murnane, PhD, MPH, assistant professor in the Infectious Disease and Global Health Epidemiology division, most recently was a postdoctoral fellow with the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS).  She earned a PhD at the University of Washington and an MPH from Columbia University. Her research focuses on maternal and infant health in the context of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa.

Aaron Scheffler, PhD, assistant professor in the Biostatistics division, recently completed his PhD in biostatistics at UCLA. His addresses the statistical challenges that arise in highly structured data generated in biomedical activities such as imaging. He has collaborated with The Jeste Developmental Neurophysiology Lab and the Autism Biomarker Consortium for Clinical Trials on electroencephalography (EEG) studies in children with autism spectrum disorder.

Paul Wesson, PhD, assistant professor in the Infectious Disease and Global Health Epidemiology division, has a PhD from UC Berkeley. His research focuses on the health of socially marginalized populations using rigorous advanced statistical methods to quantify health disparities. He was recently named a UCSF Watson Scholar. Prior to joining the department, Wesson was a postdoctoral fellow in the Traineeships in AIDS Prevention Studies Program.
