The Clinical and Translational Science Training Institute (CTST) has a new administrative home in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (DEB).
The CTST portfolio of programs, known collectively as the CTST Hub, has long supported training in clinical and translational sciences for a broad range of learners at UCSF, from undergraduates spending the summer at UCSF, to medical and other professional students, to residents and fellows, and ultimately to junior faculty as they transition into independent investigators. The CTST Hub includes those directly supported by the CTSI grant, additional programs and expanded infrastructure developed through institutional investment, and new grants that have been developed in response to new funding opportunities.
"Moving the CTST Hub's administrative home to the department enables greater collaboration with DEB education programs and will better serve trainees at all levels—both through existing and expanded programs," said Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, PhD, MD, MAS, chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, MPI for the CTSI and the CTSI training grants.
The CTST Hub currently supports a number of programs for junior faculty including: CTSI KL2 intramural awards and a broader K Scholars program; affiliated intramural K programs such as the IMPACT K12 program and the new AHRQ Learning Health Systems K12; a mentor training program and K grant writing workshops.
The Hub also supports the CTSI TL1 Early Translational Postdoctoral Training; two programs for medical residents: the CTSI Resident Research Training Program and the StARR Resident Program; the Yearlong Inquiry Program for medical students as well as programs for undergraduates and high school students.
A search for a director of the CTST Hub is currently underway, and the incumbent will work closely with DEB educational leadership and the T32 programs in aging and chronic disease, PhD in Clinical and Translational Science, MAS in Clinical Research, and certificates in Clinical Research and Implementation Science.
